Firmware Update History by Camera Model

Lookout AT&T (Canada)

Version

Addressed in this firmware:

***Strongly Recommended***

1. Add camera name (Stamp Text) to camera settings - text that is embossed on photo/video info strip

2. fixed errors in schedule mode after erase SD card

3. Allow Time lapse to function even when duty time has this hour marked as OFF.
Example: It means you can monitor a construction site during the day for example with duty time hours off (PIR is OFF) say from 7am to 7pm, and then turn on time lapse 30m to get an overview of what is happening. Then have duty time hours ON after 7pm so PIR kicks back in and time lapse stops. This means after 7pm the camera is moving into security mode while during the day PIR was off and we got a photo every 30m. This is just one idea for using this.

4. Add new 30m interval to schedule mode. Also Add 5 and 10 options to schedule file limit. This allows you to take more advantage of schedule mode yet get photos more timely. Using schedule can save a ton of battery. Each scheduled update that sends more than one photo saves a lot of battery power (as much as 20+ seconds for each upload after the first one).

5. The camera buzzer will beep when when switched to ON if: (diagnostics)

-Cellular module (modem) has a problem
-SIM card has a problem
-SD Card has a problem

6. Corrected LED blink during firmware update when battery is low (does not blink now)

7. Improved timing on LED flash by fine tuning and aligning better with photo/video to improve battery life even more.

8. Handle SD card errors gracefully. If during normal operation the camera encounters a read/write failure on the SD card it will notify the server. The server will send an email and notification to the mobile app for this camera. It will then abort current process and return to sleep.

One option if your sd card is unreadable/writable... request an Erase SD card. this will format the card and may correct any card corruption. WARNING: you will lose your photo/video files during erase sd card. Another option is to replace the SD card and bring it home to recover the files and/or format it. Prior versions had unpredictable results in some cases when sd card errors occurred.

Addressed in this firmware:

This firmware version improves Wireless Mode "Scheduled"

Scheduled Interval now has 3 new times available: 5m, 10m, and 15m.
These three new intervals allows your camera to operate in scheduled mode but still be responsive to the server at "near" instant intervals.

A new setting called Skip Report allows you to get much better battery life as you decrease scheduled interval. By setting the Skip option to "Yes" You will save a significant amount of battery power over time by avoiding using the cellular network when no photos/videos have been captured.

As always, allow the Heartbeat timer to indicate the status of the camera.

Using wireless Mode "Scheduled" provides the ability for your camera to capture multiple events from motion or Time Lapse before going online. This means you can capture multiple photos or videos quickly without a delay in between (as is the case with "Instant").

This firmware version applies the following changes

  • Corrects "hung schedule upload" due to loss of signal during uploading photos
  • Adds a temperature calibration setting per camera

Temperature Calibration: We recommend that you apply this firmware update. Then set up your camera settings so that you get a heartbeat near sun up, say 7am or 8am, before the sun shines on the camera. Then before the heart beat fires the next morning, update your camera settings and turn on 5m time lapse and allow your camera to send a photo or two. Study the reported temperature. Then select camera settings and input a value for Temperature Calibration such that it increases or decreases the reported temp by an amount that is close to the actual temperature at that camera. (use a minus to subtract). When your camera sends a new photo, it will update settings, then on the next photo you should see your calibrated temperature. adjust again if necessary. Finally, turn time lapse 5m back off. Calibrate the following morning again if needed using this same technique.

Release Changes

  • Correct a rare timing issue where Video Locks up on screen while in SET.
  • Remove Video Audio noise while Remote Control is Enabled.
  • Correct an issue where on heartbeat and other timed events, the camera would trigger and upload a photo.
  • Add two new Camera Settings that allow you to set the Internal Battery Type and the External Battery Type. The Internal default value is "Lithium". The default External Battery Type is "Not Installed". Once your camera applies this update the battery levels for all listed battery type will show accurately on the web portal and app. If you are using Energizer Lithium in the AA battery tray without any external battery then there is nothing to do. If you use some other configuration then you need to set the battery types now. The camera will use voltage curves and shut down when the camera reaches a minimum voltage for the battery type specified. If you select the wrong one you may not fully use the battery and the camera will shut down early.
  • Increase Time Lapse interval options by adding 1m to the list for those who need faster image feedback, like monitoring flood levels etc.

Internal Battery Types supported: NiMH, Alkaline, Lithium, Not Installed
External Battery Types Supported: Sealed Lead Acid, LiFePO4, AC/DC 12V Power, Not Installed

**It is now safe to use Internal and External together and get a combined accurate battery level reading.

EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: In order to reset the battery type settings while holding the camera, With the camera OFF, press and hold OK then switch to SET. The screen will say "Default Battery Type" then reboot. You must remember this.
Example: Your setings are Internal=Not Installed, External=SLA. The external SLA is fully drained and the camera shut down. You disconnect the External SLA and put AA batteries in. When you switch the camera to SET or ON, it may say Low Battery (or not power on) as AA have a much lower voltage range than SLA. In this case Press and hold OK then switch from OFF to SET

Note: Verizon charges $0.02 per sms and we are passing this charge through. When you turn on Remote Control and tap the "wake" or the "snap" button, the server will deduct 0.02 USD from your Points Reserve for the sms command sent to the camera. Keep in mind AT&T does not charge a fee for SMS messages using Remote Control, thus Ridgetec will not charge the customer.
